Why do we only say God is good when things are going our way?
You see posts about engagement, marriages, new babies, graduations all that end with “God is good”.
Is God good only because you received what you wanted?
Is he good only when the best things in life happen?
Or is he good to us in the storm?
Isn’t he good through our pain, hurt, suffering , and torment?
Was he good to Joseph when he was sold into slavery, wrongfully accused, the thrown in jail?
Was he good to David, fleeing into the wilderness from his own family?
Was he good when Job lost almost everything?
Yes. He was.
He is good when we finally get married, have a baby, or graduate.
But He is also good in sleepless nights, tears of pain, and heartbreak.
He is good all the time.
Not just when we get what we want but when we don’t get what we want.
He is good whenever he gives us what we need and when he withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly.
God, you are good in the storm , in the trial, and in sorrow.
The blessings of graduation, marriage, and family are always good.
You are good.
There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
God is good. All the time. And all the time.
God is good.
