Mental Fortitude

When the world around you seems to crumble and fall,

When others ridicule you and try to bring you down,

When no one is on your side or understands you,

When you can’t say what you really want to say because the truth is too much.

Breathe in, breathe out. God only knows the real you.

Yet they will judge, they will criticize, they will slander.

You stay the same. You do what God has called you to do.

Do it with character, strength, persistence.

Live with all of yourself and remind yourself of who you are because they don’t know the real you and they never will.

Understand that no one can know the depths of your heart but God.

Not every battle, you have to fight.

God is fighting for you. So smile child. God is on your side.

No one loves you like God loves you.

Have the mental fortitude to stay grounded.

Mistakes

No one likes to make mistakes. Being an independent problem solver is not always the easiest but it is necessary. It is the default action to blame yourself and feel bad about the mistake you have made. At the end of the day, learn from it and move on. Now you know better and better you will become.

Psalm 43:5 New King James Version (NKJV)

Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

Prayer Changes Everything

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.  If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” -Jesus (Matthew 5:43-48)

Imitate

How do you stay true to who you are when you’re surrounded by everything that contradicts what you believe? You take a step back, look at the word of God and align your life with it. In this world today, His word is the only thing that makes sense. We’ve lost a sense of purpose and have pushed Jesus completely out of the picture. We are not taking up our cross daily and following him. We are taking pictures of ourselves daily and asking people to follow us. Paul said to “imitate me, as I imitate Christ (1 Corinthians 10:34) yet today we are imitating everything but Christ and imitate the ways of this world. We’re all lost. We’re all blinded. Unless the scales from our eyes fall off and we see the world through Christ eyes. Being accepting does not mean agreeing. Being loving does not mean that God is not love. Being holy does not mean being tolerate of the unholiness around you. We’ve gone backwards. How do we move forward? We take a step a back, look at the word of God and align our lives with it.

History

When people try to put you down, remember you are on a missions. Others are looking from the outside without knowing what God is doing on the inside. Don’t lose yourself in what others say. Look at the history of God in your life. Look at his protection. Look at his sovereignty. Look at his provision. He’s always been there ready to bless you. Rise up and take your place as a child of the Most High.

Violence

Violence oh violence. How it seems to not make a difference. Two wrongs don’t make a right. We all want our own way. That’s why there’s quarrels and fights among us. Everyone wants to speak and no one wants to listen. Everyone wants to be right and no one wants to admit they’re right. You agree? Ok great because you are guilty as anyone else. We are all lovers of ourselves hating our neighbor because we want what is best for our lives. We don’t look after anyone we don’t care about. We hate those who we think are better than us and we treat each other as enemies. Violence oh violence. How it doesn’t make a difference. All it does is show us that we need to change. It shows us our true colors of evil and rage. Discourse and malice. Anger and frustration. Cold-hearted and mean. Where is the peace of God in the midst of hatred? He lives in us, then we should live it out loud. Be the change we are looking for and maybe others will change.

Violence oh violence.

If you are never challenged, you don’t grow

James 1:2-4

Faith and Endurance

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

It’s so interesting how we are so persuaded as humans by what we  see. We look at someone with something we don’t have and then think we should have it. We then go out of our way to spend money to get it only then realizing how unsatisfied we are. We’re all guilty of this. If you have an iPhone, a new car, new clothes or anything you didn’t have before you most likely saw someone else with it first and it looked good to you. Commercials, tv shows, movies, friends, co-workers, celebrities all have this kind of influence on us. We see them behave a certain way so we behave that way too. They talk a certain way and we try talking like that too. We are so easily gullible to buy what we think will improve our lives and it just leaves us wanting more.

What if we were like that with God? No I mean, really, imitate God. He heals the sick, casts out demons, Jesus spent time with him. What if we all imitated Jesus and actually lived the way he set as an example for us. What kind of different people we’d be. He never spoke without it coming from the Father. He was always in tune with God. I don’t know about you but I would rather follow Jesus’ example than any celebrity. No one can fill my soul or satisfy me the way Jesus can. No more monkey see, monkey do. Let there be more of your will,  not my will be done.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2

Put God’s Word Up in Your Home

There are benefits to putting God’s word all around your house and your room. You have no choice but to look at it. it’s right in front of you. It quickly reminds of you of his goodness and his kindness. God’s word is living and active and it pierces our souls. His word is never ending and speaks differently to us each time we read it. Hearing the word brings faith and we need faith daily. It is our daily bread in which we live. We live by the words of God and he sets us free in every way. Let’s not place his word to the side. His words don’t just belong in a closed book but every where you are let his word be there. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Let God’s word be every where you are.
