All my girls, listen up. Have you ever thought about how hard it is to be you? As females we have to think about checking our surroundings if we’re ever out alone. We have to continuously tell that older man to leave you alone and stop flirting with you. We have to be cautious to avoid getting kidnapped, raped, drugged or murdered just because we are girls. Girls then become women and women have to work and sustain themselves. Then you have to deal with judgements at work if you’re assertive or the annoying male coworker constantly trying to ask you out. Oh and if you ever decided you want to live on your own then you’ll have to take in consideration all the dangers that come with that as a woman. There’s so much to think about and all I have said is in the context of being single. You may be dealing with a jealous or an abusive boyfriend but don’t want to leave him because you like how your pictures look on Instagram. Or you are married and have to take care of your whole household and your kids. There is so much that comes with being a girl.
On top of all that, there may be things that you want to do but can’t because you are a girl, and it is too dangerous. We seem to always need protection. Sometimes I get really ambitious and want to do many things but then I come back to reality that I can never do it alone and the main reason is because I am a girl. Only God can give me the peace, grace, and fearlessness I need to do all that he has called me to do. Yes, there are things I am waiting on and things I want to see fulfilled in my life but it is all in God’s timing. No one has an easy life. Yes, being a girl is tough but being a girl doesn’t mean you’re not enough.
